THERMOPLASTIC
POLYESTER
ESTOPLAST
- EP
resins are highly crystalline thermoplastic
polyesters based on Polybutylene Terephthalate
(PBT).
SPECIAL
CHARACTERISTICS
Electrical
Properties

- High
tracking resistance, volume & surface
resistivity.
- Retains
insulation properties even after exposure
to a wide range of temperature and humidity
conditions.
- Both
di-electric constant & dissipation
factors are largely dependent of frequency
and temperature.
- No
risk of electrolytic corrosion or formation
of deposits.
Temperature
Resistance

-
Due to narrow melting range (220oC
- 225oC), in
absence of stress, it is possible to subject
ESTOPLAST-EP resins to temperatures just
below melting point for short period without
appreciable deformation.
- Heat
distortion temperature of 215oC
for glass reinforced grades and 170oC
for unreinforced grades at 66psi.
- Continuous
service temp. for un-reinforced grades
and glass reinforced grades are 120oC
and 135oC - 140oC
respectively.
Moisture
Absorption

ESTOPLAST-EP
resins are characterised by extremely low
moisture absorption of 0.08% after 24 hrs
immersion in water & 0.2% at equilibrium
(50% RH, 23oC).
Dimensional
Stability

Due
to low moisture absorption and its narrow
melting range, components moulded out of
ESTOPLAST-EP resins exhibit high dimensional
stability.
Easy
Processability / Fast Cycle Time

Due
to their crystalline nature, ESTOPLAST-EP
resins have low cycle time resulting in
high productivity.
Flame
Retarded Grades

ESTOPLAST-EP
flame retarded grades are self-extinguishing
in nature and have been tested to conform
to V-0 (1.57mm) rating as per UL-94 testing
standard.
Weather
Resistance

ESTOPLAST-EP
resins possess inherently excellent resistance
to degradation by UV radiation and outdoor
weathering. UV-resistant grades are recommended
for critical outdoor applications.
Extrudability

ESTOPLAST-EP1100
series can be extruded with ease. ESTOPLAST-EP
1115 exhibits improved kinking property
and hydrolytic stability which makes it
particularly suitable for optical fibre
cable application.
Creep
Resistance

Very
little creep is experienced at room temperature
for un-reinforced grades when subjected
to constant stress or maintained under constant
strain for a long period of time. The same
is applicable for reinforced grades even
at elevated temperature and under load.
Fatigue
Strength / Resistance to Cyclic Load

ESTOPLAST-EP
resins withstand very high stress level
in case of dynamic and periodically applied
loads.
Sliding
Performance

ESTOPLAST-EP
un-reinforced grades exhibit high resistance
to wear and possess low co-efficient of
friction - particularly against metal surface.
Chemical
Resistance

Being
crystalline in nature ESTOPLAST-EP resins
are characterised by their excellent resistance
to stress cracking and attach by a wide
range of solutions, organic solvents and
chemicals, automotive chemicals like transmission
fluid, brake fluid, motor oil, lubrication
grease, gasoline etc.
Surface
Finish

ESTOPLAST-EP
un-reinforced grades provide excellent surface
gloss in moulded components, thereby making
them suitable for products requiring high
aesthetics viz. housing for domestic appliances
etc.
